About Us
Who we are
The Wild Habitat CBO is a community-based organisation working with local people, government agencies and partners to conserve wildlife, restore habitats, and promote eco-friendly livelihoods. We believe conservation works best when communities lead, benefit, and are equipped with the knowledge and skills to live alongside wildlife.
If nothing is done about climate change, we can forget about biodiversity.

Our Work
What We Do
Wildlife
The wildlife sector in East Africa sustains the livelihoods of millions of rural households and plays a pivotal role in driving the region’s economy, primarily through tourism.
Forest
Forests contribute approximately 3% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the region, not accounting for ecosystem services and informally-traded non-timber products they provide.
Wetlands
These vital ecosystems span roughly 18 million hectares across East Africa. However, they face severe threats from encroachment and agricultural activities, particularly along riparian lands.
Marine
The marine environment along the East African coast is rapidly deteriorating due to plastic pollution, posing a significant threat to the survival of aquatic wildlife and marine ecosystems.
Advocacy
We are dedicated to advocating for and developing policies that promote the conservation and sustainable management of wildlife, forests, wetlands, and marine ecosystems.
Community Engagement
Our organization is deeply committed to fostering community engagement and empowerment in the realms of wildlife conservation and climate resilience.

Our Projects
Growing Nature through the Lens and Brush : 2024
In 2024, The Wild Habitat expanded its creative footprint with Growing Nature through the Lens and Brush — a project that brings together photography and art to celebrate the beauty and fragility of our natural world. Through compelling visuals and expressive artwork, the initiative captures ecosystems, wildlife, and landscapes in a way that inspires awareness and deeper connection.
Growing Nature through the Lens and Brush : 2025
In 2025, The Wild Habitat evolved Growing Nature through the Lens and Brush into a more immersive and impactful experience. Building on the previous year’s foundation, the project deepened its focus on storytelling — blending powerful photography, detailed illustrations, and community-driven contributions to highlight urgent environmental themes.
Join us in our mission to conserve, educate, and empower.
Together, we can create a future where wildlife and people thrive side by side.
